Banger Rules - 2012         

Car:  any saloon or  hatchback , estate or  van may be used.  NO soft tops,  travellers allowed

NO yank cars permitted

Car sharing is NOT permitted.

Doors must be secured (welded, bolted or tied). No outside reinforcement.  A flat plate may

be  fitted to the driver’s door – 6” either side of joint 

Tow bars must be removed

Wheels  - must be the same type as when the vehicle was first manufactured – wheel

balance   weights removed

Radiator :  may be repositioned ; use steel tubing or reinforced hoses

Bonnets must be secured with bolts or chains

Roll Bars or cage must be fitted. A minimum of one upright fitted behind the driver’s seat,

one  bar pillar to pillar behind the drivers seat,  one chicken bar across drivers door.

Minimum gauge 2” bar or tube (scaffold grade tube),  all  welded.

No added steel or ballast

Distributor and Carburettor protection bolted to engine,  NOT to the bodywork

 Fire extinguisher: must have contents gauge and be fitted within reach of the driver

Silencer:  must be fitted, in good condition;  exhaust may be rerouted through the car

must  be covered

Petrol Tank : must have air tight top, have small breather pipe from top of tank through

Floor and securely fixed with metal straps which are bolted down NOT tied and the

maximum  fuel capacity permitted is  2.5 gallons (11.36 litres)

Batteries:  must be well secured and covered

Differentials: Free – No 4 X 4

Tyres: standard road tyres only. NO M&S, Cuts or Town and Country

Race Numbers: Roof fin 10” x 1½” number black  number on white background (mandatory)

 Driver and Passenger doors 15” x 2” per number (optional)

All chrome strips, glass and flammables to be removed

Cornish Rod Rules - 2012      

Car:  any saloon or hatchback up to 13’ 6”long including bumpers

Car sharing is NOT permitted.

Engine: up to 1600cc. Engine number must be clearly visible

To be kept standard to the car:

Carburettor; Suspension; Bumpers; Differential; Exhaust and Exhaust downpipe

Distributor and  Air Filter:  free choice

Oil Cooler: may be fitted

Radiator :  may be repositioned ; Use steel tubing or reinforced hoses

Silencer:  must be in good condition

Body panels:  should be intact and in good condition

Brake lights:  2 must be fitted in rear parcel shelf area

Petrol Tank : must have air tight top, have small breather pipe from top of tank through

Floor and securely fixed with metal straps which are bolted down NOT tied

Batteries:  must be well secured and covered

Roll Cage: full roll cage must be securely bolted or welded. Chicken bar fitted down

both sides – inside only – not past the wheel centres

Fire extinguisher: must have contents gauge and be fitted within reach of the driver

Cut off switch:  fit nearside rear parcel shelf

Seat: high back race seat or seat with headrest

Harness: full race harness – minimum 3 point

Wheels: free but must be covered by wheel arches

Tyres: standard road tyres only. NO M&S, Cuts or Town and Country

Race Numbers: Driver and Passenger doors 15” x 2” per number. Roof Fin 10” x 1½” number

 Mirror – large internal; external –if fitted to drivers door must not stick out

  Window Nets or Welded Mesh must be fitted to front driver and passenger doors

 Glass/Flammable materials must be removed

  No ballast

  No added steel;  grill and light area may be welded body gauge steel only

Minis  Rules - 2012

                         Car sharing is NOT permitted.

Engine: up to 1000cc ( A&A series). NO Cooper or Cooper S  parts

Carburettor: single SU standard to the engine only

Suspension, Differential & Distributor – to stay standard to the car

Air Filter: Paper or K&N

Oil cooler may be fitted

Silencer: must be in good condition

Petrol Tank : must have air tight top, have small breather pipe from top of tank through

Floor and securely fixed with metal straps which are bolted down NOT tied

Batteries:  must be well secured and covered

Fire extinguisher: must have contents gauge and be fitted within reach of the driver

 Cut off switch:  fit nearside rear parcel shelf

Roll Cage: full roll cage must be securely bolted or welded. Chicken bar fitted down

        both sides – inside only – not past the wheel centres

Seat: high back race seat or seat with headrest

Harness: full race harness – minimum 3 point

Wheels: 10” or 12” only  and must be covered by wheel arches

Bumpers: Front bumper permitted –standard to mini;  Rear max  2”x 1”box section or

tube may replace original – must not protrude past sides of car

Brake lights:  2 must be fitted in rear parcel shelf area

Radiator :  may be repositioned ; Use steel tubing or reinforced hoses

Race Numbers: Driver and Passenger doors 15” x 2” per number. Roof Fin 10” x 1½” number

Engine: Unlimited – fitted anywhere in the car – any engine to any car

Carbs:   Unlimited – fuel injection and turbos allowed

Distributor,  Air Filter,  Suspension,  Bumpers, Differential,  free choice (NO 4 X 4)

 Distributor guard to be bolted to engine – NOT Bodywork

Exhaust may be rerouted through the car but must  be covered

Radiator :  may be repositioned ; Use steel tubing or reinforced hoses

Batteries:  must be well secured and covered

Silencer:  must be in good condition

Petrol Tank : must have air tight top, have small breather pipe from top of tank through

Floor and securely fixed with metal straps which are bolted down NOT tied

Roll Cage: full roll cage must be securely bolted or welded. Chicken bar fitted down

 A series of holes 1” diameter may be cut into the grill area

Window nets must be fitted

Wheels: free but must be covered by wheel arches

Harness: full race harness – minimum 4 point

Mirror– large internal; external –if fitted to drivers door must not stick out
